He was asked on That Peter Crouch Podcast on BBC Sounds, who is boss David Moyes’ favourite?

Noble replied: “Jessie Lingard at the minute, mate. They live in the same apartment block as well. The gaffer loves it as well.

“Jessie will be with all of us and the gaffer will go like, ‘Jess, thanks for bringing me that bottle of wine the other night!’. Jess will just swallow his adam’s apple, he won’t have a comeback.”

Lingard has also scored nine goals as well as supplying the boss with plonk since joining in January, in what is becoming a vintage season for West Ham as they push for European football next season.

Noble, 34, was covered in raw eggs and flour last week by team-mates to mark his birthday and the long-serving midfielder also lifted the lid on other team-mates.

In particular the down-to-earth behaviour of West Ham’s two Czech dynamos Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.

The bargain pair have set new standards in work terms by coming in on their days off and refusing to get carried away with their new found fame as Premier League stars.

Noble said: “They’ve surprised us all, they’ve been unbelievable. Coufal is a machine, he loves football.

“They’re great fellas, they set up a head tennis net and play an hour of head tennis against each other, then an hour later you see Coufal at the bus stop getting the bus to Chigwell or something.

“I sent a picture to one of my mates of him sitting at a bus stop waiting for the 86. It’s mad.

“When Tomas signed for West Ham, I think his mum and dad came over. He sent them back to Stansted on the Stansted Express, the bus, mad!”

Noble signed a one year contract recently but says it will be his last at the club he has served since boyhood.

He said: “We’ve had about nine managers of different nationalities, different ways of playing and I’ve always been picked.

“You don’t get picked in a Premier League team because you support the club and you’re a homegrown player.

“If you’re not good enough you get moved on. So for me, yeah, that’s my biggest achievement.”
