Alan Shearer believes that from the still images provided, Manchester United’s last gasp winner vs West Ham should have been disallowed for offside.
Marcus Rashford broke Hammers’ hearts in the third minute of injury time, tapping home an Edinson Cavani centre.
Cavani was freed by an Anthony Martial through ball, with replays showing he was only very marginally onside.
The goal was subsequently awarded, helping the Red Devils to leapfrog David Moyes’s side and move into the Premier League ’s top four in the process.
Rashford’s winner sparked controversy across social media with many debating whether the veteran Uruguayan striker had strayed beyond the line of last defender.

And Shearer, who was covering the game live felt that the VAR could have come to a different conclusion and in doing so, saved West Ham a point.
“All four of us in the office thought it was going to be given offside. In the image we saw that was frozen, Edinson Cavani looked offside,” Shearer told BBC Radio 5 Live. “It will be tough to take for West Ham when you have worked so hard and fought so hard like they did. To lose it in that fashion, it is hard to take.”
The goal saw all three players Ralf Rangnick brought on as substitutes link up, displaying the strength in depth they still possess.
Shearer added: “It’s not the first and it won’t be the last time that Manchester United will do that. They have done it so many times before.
“They have obviously got quality in forward positions so the guys they bring on will make a difference.”
Rangnick has now picked up 17 points from a possible 24 since being named interim boss and praised his team’s resilience having swiftly recovered from their midweek exertions.
“If you score in the last second of the game that is the best type of win, a clean sheet. I think in the end we deserved to win,” the German said.

“It takes patience to play West Ham. A few moments at the end I wished we would have passed the ball instead of shooting from wherever.
“Bearing in mind we played a few days ago against Brentford, the team looked physically good.
“We knew it would take patience, the way we played defensively, won balls back, I was really happy with that.
“I am very pleased the three subs prepared the goal and scored the goal. All were involved. That makes it even more important.
“I would love to have those two points from Villa Park, but with 17 points now we are pleased.”
