Real Madrid – La Liga: Morientes: My heart isn’t divided in Real Madrid vs Liverpool

Fernando Morientes may have played for both Real Madrid and Liverpool in the past, but he has no doubts about which team he will support in the Champions League quarter-final tie.

The former Spain international also explained that Liverpool should not be underestimated because of their injury issues and believes that Los Blancos can compete for both the Champions League and LaLiga Santander.

“My heart is not divided,” Morientes told Radio MARCA.

“It is difficult to have my heart divided when a team play against Real Madrid.

“Anything can happen in a match like this, there are no favourites.

“[Liverpool] come like a wolf in sheep’s clothing and I don’t trust that.

Real Madrid have that competitive and winning gene that makes them always present in the final phase of major competitions.

“I think that they can opt for either of the two titles.”

Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos have yet to reach an agreement on the player’s contract renewal, but Morientes is confident that they will strike a deal soon.

“It hurts me a lot that an agreement has not already been reached between Ramos and Madrid,” added Morientes.

“I am convinced that an agreement, which will be good for both the player and the club, will be reached.”

Morientes went on to praise both Vinicius for his talent and Karim Benzema for his leadership.

Vinicius has the innate talent of getting away from the opposition defenders and not all players have that,” noted Morientes

“In today’s football it is very difficult to see a player with that ability in one against one situations. Benzema, meanwhile, has carried his team on his shoulders.”
