Barcelona: Controversy around Frenkie de Jong’s dismissal

Actualizado

Frenkie de Jong must be sick of the sight of Carlos del Cerdo Grande after the Dutchman was sent off in Barcelona’s scoreless draw with Cadiz on Thursday.

De Jong picked up two yellow cards within four minutes just after the hour mark, and sparked protests from Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto, Sergio Busquets, De Jong himself, and Ronald Koeman.

The red card is just De Jong‘s second of his career, and De Cerro was also the man who showed him his first.

A controversial decision

Radio MARCA’s refereeing expert Alfonso Perez Burrull said that the red card shouldn’t have been given.

“Considering the two offences of the Barcelona player, putting Barcelona down to 10 men was not the right thing to,” he told Radio MARCA.
