Real Madrid – La Liga: Ramos vs Real Madrid: The 100 day war

The countdown is on and a solution doesn’t seem to be any closer as Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid enter the final 100 days of his existing contract.

A relationship which began in 2005 could come to an end on June 30 if there is no agreement reached, and for now it looks less and less likely.

The absence of movement from either side suggests that Florentino Perez‘s offer doesn’t convince the club’s captain, who was hoping for a longer deal, which reduces his wages by 10 percent, as other teammates have accepted.

Without a rejection

There is no rejection of the offer, which suggests that there is still room to negotiate, as Ramos himself confirmed last week.

“There’s no news on my renewal, I’d like there to be,” Ramos said.

In the three months since Ramos and Perez met, both have been looking for possible solutions, including the arrival of David Alaba, as MARCA have covered since December.

In Valdebebas, Real Madrid‘s directors are secure in the knowledge that the offers which have reached the defender haven’t been up to his expectations.

Europe’s biggest clubs agreed a pact of no aggression among their biggest players and no-one has alerted the club of any approach.

The relationship between Perez and Ramos is a close and fluid one, with no tension, but both are looking out for their own interests.

As MARCA reported a few days ago, the offer from Perez does have an expiry date, at which point Real Madrid will take decisions to build their squad for next season.

Identical situation

Such a scenario is unusual for Real Madrid, but it is also the case for Lucas Vazquez, who in his case has rejected the renewal offer.

The lack of income due to the pandemic has made an impact and club directors are eagerly awaiting the return of fans to the stands to return to normality.
