Lionel Messi has been brilliant in 2021 for both Barcelona and Argentina as he has registered a whopping 33 goals and 13 assists in 36 games in all competitions for both teams.
The Barcelona captain has bagged 28 goals and nine assists with the Blaugrana during this calendar year and another five goals, as well as four assists, with Argentina.
Messi netted 23 of his 30 LaLiga Santander goals in 2021 and was named the league’s top scorer for yet another season.
He also scored three in the Copa del Rey, leading Barcelona all the way to the trophy and two in the Champions League as the Catalans were eliminated at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16.
Messi‘s contract with Barcelona has officially come to an end, but the two parties are negotiating a new deal, with the 34-year-old superstar currently playing in the Copa America for Argentina.
