Ralf Rangnick previews Brentford clash
Ralf Rangnick is convinced Paul Pogba will act professionally until the end of this season, when the Manchester United midfielder is able to walk away from the club for free.
The Frenchman has been sidelined for around two months with a groin problem with his last appearance coming in November. Pogba featured in the 2-2 Champions League draw with Atalanta, a game Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of.
His last Premier League outing was the 5-0 drubbing by Liverpool – a game he was sent off in.
A lot has happened since; Solskjaer was sacked, Michael Carrick took charge of three games and Rangnick was appointed interim boss with the view of taking up a consultancy role at the end of the season.
Despite suffering an injury setback, Pogba made a return to training earlier this week. The 28-year-old was even on the winning team for an internal 7-a-side tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo, Donny van de Beek and Phil Jones were among his teammates.

And it seems Pogba’s training efforts made quite the impression on the German coach, who had an hour long chat with the midfielder following one of the sessions.
During the conversation, Pogba reassured Rangnick he would give it his all until the end of the season, regardless of whether he stays or goes at the end of the season.
“Well it was the first training session yesterday after two-and-a-half months of injury and in this training session he showed, in every moment, when we played 6v6 or whatever we did in the rondos, that he’s an extraordinary player and that he can give a lot of positive input into the team if he’s fully focused,” Rangnick told the club’s official website.
“I had a long conversation with him for more than an hour after the training session, a very good conversation. He committed himself until the end of the season.
“He explained to me that he wants to be the best possible Paul Pogba that he can be.”
Despite featuring in training, and clearly impressing, Pogba isn’t expected to return to match action for another couple of weeks. Rangnick, though, can’t wait.

The United boss added: “Yes, I’m very much looking forward to having him available in two weeks’ time, after the international break, for three different competitions,” the German added.
“As I said, what I saw in training yesterday was amazing: a very good standard of performance physically, emotionally and technically.
“Now it’s about showing that and having that transfer on to the pitch once he’s fully available.”
