Real Madrid – La Liga: Marcelo’s hint about Cristiano Ronaldo’s return

Marcelo has added yet more fuel to the fire of speculation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

Juventus’ Champions League elimination at the hands of Porto sparked rumours about the Portuguese’s future, with many suggesting that the forward could return to the Spanish capital after three years away.

Real Madrid have struggled for goals since his 2018 departure, while both he and the club have looked worse off without one another – particularly in Europe.

As well as the club, Cristiano Ronaldo left Marcelo behind him in Madrid. The Brazilian had always been one of his closest friends, and the wing-back has dropped a hint that they could be reunited soon.

Instagram account 433 posted a video of the pair celebrating together at Madrid, along with the caption: “That Marcelo X Cristiano connection”.

To the surprise of 433’s followers, Marcelo himself responded to the post by writing “soon” beneath it, alongside a couple of emojis, including one which was laughing.

Only Marcelo knows whether he was joking or not.
