New Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo wants to snap up Switzerland’s Euro 2020 striker Haris Seferovic.
Nuno is looking to bolster his attacking options at Tottenham after taking charge last week.
He needs more firepower after Brazilian forward Carlos Vinícius returned to Portugal and amid continuing doubts over Harry Kane’s future.
Spurs opted not to turn Vinícius’ loan from Benfica into a permanent deal for around £36million.
But Portuguese outfit Benfica are also willing to sell forward Seferovic,29 this summer.
The forward boosted his stock with three goals at the Euros for the Swiss, who lost in the quarter-finals on penalties to Spain.
West Brom were interested in Seferovic in January but Benfica refused to loan the forward.
Seferovic is under contract until 2024 and has a buy-out of £50million but is expected to go for around £20-£25m.
Nuno has declared he is relishing getting to work with his new squad upon joining.
He said: “When you have a squad with quality and talent, we want to make the fans proud and enjoy.
“It’s an enormous pleasure and honour to be here, there’s joy and I’m happy and looking forward to starting work.”

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy acknowledged it was a drawn-out process to find and appoint Jose Mourinho’s successor.
“First of all, I’d like to welcome Nuno to the club,” said Levy.
“We should like to thank our supporters for all their patience throughout this process.

“I’ve spoken already about the need to revert back to our core DNA of playing attacking, entertaining football and Fabio and I believe Nuno is the man who can take our talented group of players, embrace our young players coming through and build something special.”
Managing director for football Fabio Paratici -who arrived from Juventus earlier this summer -added: “The brief for this appointment has always been clear, we wanted a head coach that can instil all the values that are important to this football club.
“You only have to look at Nuno’s time a Wolves to see his ability to take a group of players and implement an adaptive style that brings success and allows players to develop and thrive.”
