Ronaldo has begun his second spell at Old Trafford in astonishing form, scoring four goals in his first three games in all competitions.

His second debut for United saw him score a double against Newcastle, before he opened the scoring against Young Boys in the Champions League.

The superstar’s deadly start in front of goal continued when the Red Devils made the trip south to take on West Ham at the London Stadium.

He had five shots on target during the visit to David Moyes’ men and also notched the equaliser five minutes after Said Benrahma had opened the scoring for the Hammers.

Ronaldo capitalised on Lukas Fabianski’s spilling of a shot to tuck home 35 minutes into the game, and had shouts for two penalties controversially waved away by referee Martin Atkinson.

Only Salah, Michail Antonio and Bruno Fernandes have scored more league goals than Ronaldo so far this term.

But the 36-year-old does possess the remarkable statistic that he has scored 1.50 goals for every 90 minutes he has played and has scored every 60 minutes.

Having finished as the top scorer in Serie A in his final season at Juventus, many had expected him to again be fighting for the golden boot in England.

It is an achievement that former Newcastle and Crystal Palace star Darren Ambrose expects Ronaldo to pick up.

“If you’re asking me now, I think he’ll finish as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, I honestly do,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think you’ve got Lukaku of course will score a lot, Harry Kane will start scoring absolutely, Salah another one who’s going to be right up there.

“But he [Ronaldo] just seems to score all the time.”

A large part of the reasoning behind Ambrose’s belief that Ronaldo will win the golden boot is that he thinks Ronaldo has shown a different side to his game.

Ambrose highlighted his performance in the win against the Hammers to prove his point that Ronaldo has changed his game for the better.

“Do you know what, I see a different side to him. He looks like he’s got younger. I mean I know he’s very well built and is a brilliant athlete,” Ambrose added.

“But the movement he’s producing, he had one spell of play when he got the ball on the edge of the box and did about four step overs, you ain’t seen that for a long time from him.

“The movement for his goal was absolutely fantastic, just to come back, because he was offside, to come back to get onside was brilliant.

“And in my opinion, he could have and probably should have had at least one penalty as well.”
