In a truly enthralling match that may have outshone all before it at Euro 2020, it was Italy that overcame Spain on penalties to claim a spot in the final.
Roberto Mancini’s side drew first blood in the second half before a Spanish equaliser levelled the score between two teams that entertained and battled for every ball.
Eventually the only way to pick a winner at Wembley Stadium was through penalties, which were ultimately won by Italy when Jorginho stuck the ball into the back of the net to win the game.

As Juventus fans have become accustomed to, Chiesa is capable of some breathtaking moments of football and the 23-year-old winger was more than happy to oblige the crowd at Wembley on the hour mark when he picked up the ball on the edge of the Spain box.
With Erica Garcia and Aymeric Laporte standing before him, Chiesa put his head down and curled a wonderful shot into the bottom right corner of the Spanish net. A moment of magic to open the scoring.

While Spain dominated possession, it was down to the Manchester City defender to snuff out Italian counter attacks and Laporte can certainly be proud of the fact that he didn’t allow striker Ciro Immobile anywhere near goal.

While the Real Sociedad winger didn’t do poorly, it became clear after the first half that Spain needed more bite in the final third. And once Italy opened the scoring in the second, it became essential. And so Morata was thrown on to win the day.
With 10 minutes left on the clock things were beginning to look desperate for Spain, before Morata picked up the ball outside the Italian box and played a smart one-two with Dani Olmo to slice through the opposing defence. With nothing but the keeper to beat, the Juventus player got his head down and happily tucked it into the left corner.
