Juventus are determined to keep hold of their prized asset, with Ronaldo contracted until at least the end of 2021.

Recent reports claim Juventus have been in touch with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendez with regards to a one-year extension.

But Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid remain linked with the Portugal international for the time being following a disappointing season for Juventus, in which they failed to win a tenth Serie A title.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously discussed Ronaldo, heaping praise on the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and hinting that he’d love to sign him for United.

Ronaldo, too, has discussed the prospect of one day returning to Old Trafford, pointing out he has a great relationship with the fans.

Amid the speculation, a video from 2008 has emerged, which features Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand, and Wayne Rooney all at Man United.

The clip centres on Solskjaer, who at the time was coaching at United under Sir Alex Ferguson, and sees the aforementioned trio give their opinion on how the Norwegian was getting on.

“He’s very good,” says Ronaldo, who is the first to speak. “I look for Ole like a man, not just coach now. He’s a fantastic guy and I have a great relationship with him.”

Ferdinand adds: “I’m sure he’ll go on to become a top coach as well because he has great ideas about the game and he’s working very hard at Carrington.”

And finally, Rooney concludes: “I’m sure he will one day become a manager and become a good one.”

Solskjaer eventually becoming Manchester United boss was obviously a long time in the making, not least because Ferguson went on to manage the team for another five seasons.

But given he is now at the helm, and Ronaldo was clearly impressed with what he brought to the table as a coach, a return to Manchester United may just be on the forward’s mind.

Juventus, though, as previously mentioned, are adamant Ronaldo will not be going anywhere.

The director of football at Juventus, Federico Cherubini, recently told the press: “There has been no signal from Ronaldo. Especially the rumours that there should be a transfer and there’s no sign from Juventus in this regard.

“Last season he scored 36 goals in 44 games, the numbers don’t always say everything but hide many truths, we are happy that Ronaldo will join the team as soon as he has finished his holidays.

“I don’t have the crystal ball, but right now there are no signals regarding a possible transfer.”
