Relations between Harry Kane and Daniel Levy ‘broken’ amid Tottenham transfer request

Harry Kane’s relationship with Daniel Levy is broken as the striker seeks to leave Tottenham this summer.

The forward, who is currently targeting Euros success with England, is planning to seek pastures new.

He has been a leading light in north London for several years but now feels the time is right to move on as he looks to win silverware.

Tottenham have so far stood firm regarding the player’s future as they aim to keep him in the capital.

But with Kane away on international duty and Levy looking for a new manager talk of a move away has been relatively muted in recent weeks.

Nuno Espirito Santo has finally been named as Tottenham’s new boss.

The club tried and failed to appoint several names as Jose Mourinho’s successor with Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca all linked.

But the way in which Levy went about choosing his next manager serves to highlight the strain in his relationship with Kane.

The Tottenham chief would usually be involved in dialogue his star man about such a decision, but there has been none, reports the Athletic.

Manchester City and Chelsea are among those linked with Kane, who turns 27 this summer.

A price tag comfortably north of £100m will be needed to prise the striker away from north London.

Kane has previously spoken about having a strong relationship with his chairman, but that is being tested.

“There’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club,” he said on the Overlap.

“It’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman.

“As players you don’t know what the chairman is thinking. He might want to sell me. He might be thinking, ‘If I could get £100m then why not?’ I’m not going to be worth that for the next two or three years.”

Kane also spoke about controlling his own destiny despite having a contract until 2025.

That will strengthen Tottenham’s hand should they want to dig their heels in.

Kane has also said: “I’m sure that [Levy] will want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me and my career at this moment in time.

“I don’t want to have come to the end of my career and have any regrets. I want to be the best that I can be. I’ve said before, I’d never say that I’d stay at Spurs for the rest of my career [and] I’d never say that I would leave Spurs.”
