Plans for Hollywood film about Leicester and Jamie Vardy to be stepped up after FA Cup win

A Hollywood film guru will step up plans for a box office movie about Leicester and Jamie Vardy after their FA Cup triumph.

LA-based Brit Adrian Butchart wrote the scripts for the first two movies in the ‘Goal’ film trilogy.

He has since been planning another football film and has held talks with Vardy after his incredible rise from non league factory worker to Premier League title winner.

Now the star has added another fairytale after lifting the FA Cup with the Foxes at Wembley by beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley courtesy of Youri Tielemans screamer.

Vardy is believed to be the first player to play in 13 rounds of the competition from the preliminary round to the final.

And Butchart reckons the latest twist to his script will help the film which he claims was delayed by Covid.

Butchart told the Mirror: “We have been following Jamie’s progress in the FA Cup and he’s done yet another record breaking achievement.

“We know Jamie to be among the world’s best players and his continued success is inspirational to us and the film.

“We had been expecting to shoot the movie last year but sadly for our industry, as with so many others, the pandemic got in the way.

“Especially given that the story of Leicester’s victory will require large crowd scenes for which we are keen to feature real fans rather than rely solely on computer generated imagery.

“We haven’t been slacking though and used the time to continue to hone the script and brought in some new exciting partners.

“We are now looking forward to casting and getting into production as soon as guidelines safely allow, hopefully with a full stadium.”

Butchart lives in Hollywood and makes movies with his production company Knightsbridge Films.

Goal made more than £23million around the world and featured cameos from big names including Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham.

Butchart has already confirmed considering Zac Effron and Robert Pattinson to play Vardy but One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, who is from South Yorkshire, is also in the frame

Rodgers admitted: “I think his story is so unique. It is definitely a movie later in life isn’t it.”
