The reason for Mbappe’s delay in announcing his move to Real Madrid and when he will do so

Kylian Mbappe has yet to comment on his future. As MARCA reported on February 19 2024, the French international has already signed his contract with Real Madrid.

However, what will happen with the player beyond June 2024 when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires, officially, is still unknown due to the secrecy that the player is maintaining.

He did make it clear in the press room that before the European Championship in Germany, which kicks off on June 14, he would like to have his future sorted.

“The European Championship will be my priority, but I hope it will be settled by then,” he said. “At the European Championship I will focus on the national team”.

And that’s why he said that if he hasn’t announced anything yet, “it’s because I have nothing to announce,”. All before finishing with a question for the journalist: “When you watch my last matches, do you see a distracted guy?

Why hasn’t Mbappe announced his future yet?

One of the people who dared to comment on why Kylian Mbapp’s future has not yet been announced is Jerome Rothen, former PSG player and commentator for RMC Sport.

Mbappe is going to sign for Real Madrid. I’m not telling anyone anything new,” said the former player

“He will announce it before the European Championship. He will announce it when PSG are eliminated from the Champions League or if Real Madrid are eliminated from the Champions League against Manchester City (in the quarter-finals) or in the semi-finals.

“As long as there is the possibility of watching PSG-Real Madrid, he won’t do it. He won’t announce anything.”

The Champions League quarter-finals have not yet kicked off, but they will do so shortly with Real Madrid-Manchester City on April 9 at 21:00. The following day will see Luis Enrique’s PSG take on Xavi Hernndez’s Barcelona.

The second legs of both matches will be played on April 16 and 17. If after those dates one of the two teams is eliminated, we will know if Rothen’s theory is correct. Otherwise, we might have to wait for the semi-finals (April 30 and May 7) or even the final (June 1).
