Sergiño Dest eager to play first Clásico with fans present

The first Clásico of the 2021/22 LaLiga season is hours away and this will be a special one post the coronavirus pandemic because fans will be allowed in the stands. This is going to be Sergiño Dest’s first game against Real Madrid with fans present and he has said that it is a big energy boost for him.

‘Big difference’ to have the support of the fans

“It means a lot. When I was younger I always watched El Clásico and it is the best game of the year. This is going to be my first time with the fans and it is a big difference and I feel blessed to play this game,” said Dest.

My first Clásico was special and you always remember your first one. I haven’t defeated Real Madrid yet and I hope that we win on Sunday. This is the biggest game of the year, everyone is really sharp and we approach this game differently than others.”

Dest has proven to be a key asset for FC Barcelona’s manager Ronald Koeman. The USMNT player has played in several positions and he said that he feels comfortable in all of them. The communication with Koeman is very good because they both speak Dutch.

For me it doesn’t matter where I play. I try to help the team and wherever the coach needs me I will play. The most important thing for me is to be in the starting XI so it doesn’t matter where the coach puts me. I just want to help the team,” he concluded.
