Real Madrid – La Liga: Real Madrid to lose out on a potential 15 million euros in four days

Real Madrid are set to miss out on 15 million euros of earnings in just four days, as they gear up to play Barcelona and Liverpool behind closed doors.

Apart from the Madrid derby and their home tie against Inter in the Champions League group stage, Los Blancos hadn’t played any top sides at home so far this season.

Their quarter-final first leg tie against Liverpool at home was predicted to have brought in around 10 million euros in ticket sales, and Saturday night’s match against Barcelona would be less due to season ticket holders but could still bring in around five million euros.

The sad reality for Real Madrid is that these two massive ties against Barcelona and Liverpool have brought in precisely zero euros for the club. The absence of fans is now normal in the pandemic, but it is costing football clubs dearly in terms of their finances.
