Todibo was at fault for Montpellier’s opening goal after turning the ball into his own net and tempers boiled over at full-time as he clashed with Nice ultras inside the Allianz Riviera.

The France international has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe owning Nice and being a new investor in United, and was told by angered fans to leave the club.

Nice supporters directed their frustrations at full-time by singing a song telling the 24-year-old: ‘If you’re not happy, leave the club.’

The player who has been touted for a move to both United and Chelsea previously hinted at a potential exit, stating in February: ‘I’ll wait until the summer to make my decision. If my decision is to stay, I’ll announce it, if it is to leave, I’ll announce it too and I’ll thank everyone, but we’re not there yet.’

Todibo responded by initially storming over to the set of fans who were protected behind a metal fence and entered a shouting match with the aggravated fanbase.

The exchange lasted over a minute as the defender pointed at individuals in the crowd, argued with his team-mates and voiced his anger.

Nice players including former Champions League winner, Dante, tried to hold him back but were rebuffed by Todibo as he continued to move away from them.

Fans in the stand refused to settle after being confronted with some members jumping down onto the lower concrete level and attempting to get closer to the player.

Todibo was tipped for a potential transfer to the English top-flight last year and a move to Man United could now be easier to conduct given Ratcliffe’s recent investment in the English giants.
