Kieran Tripper ‘house hunting in UK’ as he edges closer to joining Man Utd

Kieran Trippier is already house hunting as a move back to the Premier League edges closer.

Manchester United are ready to ramp up their efforts to sign the Atletico Madrid star in the summer transfer window.

It follows two successful years in La Liga, where he has helped Diego Simeone’s side win the league this season ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Trippier was even named in the Liga Team of the Year after a campaign that saw him make 28 appearances, grabbing six assists along the way too.

The England international has enjoyed his time in Spain and believes Simeone has improved him drastically as a player.

But the defender, born and raised in Bury, cannot resist a return to the north-west – especially after a year where so many players around the world have felt isolated due to the pandemic.

Trippier is hoping to make a big impact with England this summer at Euro 2020, where he is hoping to step up in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence.

And the former Tottenham star has admitted that Gareth Southgate and Simeone have some comparable attributes – but El Cholo comes out on top when it comes to touchline madness.

“The style of play, tactically Gareth’s brilliant so is Simeone,” he said. “

They’ve got similarities, the way they set the teams up and the way they are as characters.

“A little bit different character-wise because Simeone is just absolutely crazy, as you can see on the touchline, sprinting down the tunnel when we won the other day, but both fantastic managers.”

Meanwhile, United are stepping up their efforts to secure their summer targets after a tough year last transfer window.

Solskjaer was disappointed not to win a trophy this season after losing the Europa League final and wants to put that right.
