Inside Mino Raiola’s plan for Erling Haaland to become first ever £1 million-a-week player

Super-agent Mino Raiola is planning to make Erling Haaland the first £1million-a-week footballer.

That’s the staggering deal Raiola is looking to secure for the Norwegian star who is tipped to become one of the most prolific strikers ever.

And it’s certain to rule out most of the runners and riders for the 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund attacker – EXCEPT Abu Dhabi owned Manchester City, Spanish giants Real Madrid and Qatari-backed Paris St Germain who could all raise that kind of finance.

Raiola and Alf-Inge Haaland, the strikers’ father, met with Madrid and Barcelona officials recently signalling the auction for the £154million-rated Dortmund striker has begun.

But it’s believed both Spanish clubs were shocked by the huge sums being talked by Raiola who believes Haaland is a generational talent who deserves to be the first £1million-a-week star.

It’s understood Premier League clubs City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have also been warned any deal for Haaland will be the biggest in football history.

As well as a world record fee, Raiola is demanding eye-watering personal terms for the Dortmund goal machine – and believes certain clubs WILL pay up.

That prompted Etihad boss Pep Guardiola to say: “I don’t know what’s going to happen – but at these prices we’re not going to buy any striker.”

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is currently the world’s highest paid footballer on a reported £500,00-a-week AFTER tax, with stoppages as much as £200,000-a-week.

Raiola wants more than that for Haaland and has told prospective buyers the Norwegian’s scoring stats are already so off the scale it makes the attacker unique – and clubs would be getting a guarantee of goals for years to come.

Haaland has scored 39 goals in 41 games for club and country this season after bagging 40 in 38 matches for Red Bull Salzburg and Dortmund the previous campaign.

Those kind of numbers are firmly in Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo territory and Raiola believes Haaland is poised to soon eclipse them both – and become the most lethal striker in the world.

Coming out of a global lockdown is not deterring Raiola from holding clubs to ransom either, with the Dutch/Italian agent believing this is a once in a lifetime deal for the world’s most ambitious clubs.

Industry insiders say a deal for Haaland could be one of the most complex contracts ever.

As well as a hug basic wage, image rights, global digital opportunities and commercial deals could boost Haaland’s weekly wage packet towards the magic £1million mark Raiola wants to hit.

And the till won’t stop ringing there for the club who lands Halland with reports already suggesting any deal will net Raiola and his father £20million EACH.
