When Denmark step onto the Wembley pitch against England for the Euro 2020 semi-final on Wednesday night, they will be counting on Martin Braithwaite to play a decisive role in leading the side to the final.
Whilst we may see Braithwaite as just that – Denmark‘s star striker and Barcelona forward – his success in business show that he is far more than this.
In fact, he is the only Barcelona player alongside Lionel Messi to feature on Forbes’ list of the richest sports stars. And while many would think of names such as Gerard Pique, who himself has earned a reputation for his business acumen, Brathwaite is streets ahead.
The root of his success lies in his investments in the US real estate market, as the business he owns with his uncle is worth 250 million dollars, according to Forbes. And that all started with an 850,000 dollar investment back in 2017 and by the end of that year it has grown to be worth 10m dollars.
That’s not all, he owns the clothing brand ‘Trente’ with his wife, which has had enormous success in France, as well as a restaurant – Gave – in Barcelona.
