Chelsea could finally be ramping up their January transfer window activities, having had a bid accepted for Derby County full-back Dylan Williams and reports suggesting they have moved for Lille striker Jonathan David.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring in new faces at full-back following long-term injuries to Ben Chilwell and Reece James and may now have landed the extra cover needed.

And a new striker could also be on the cards in the form of David, who has impressed in Ligue 1 and is being linked with top clubs from across Europe.

The club may also be set to bring in an extra face in midfield, with reports saying the Stamford Bridge outfit are lining up a move for Ajax defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez.

Ajax ace chased

Chelsea are “lining up an offer” for Ajax star Edson Alvarez, it has been claimed.

Football Insider reports that the Blues are interested in the Mexican defensive midfielder, who can also play at centre-back.

But Premier League rivals Leicester City and Crystal Palace are als osaid to be chasing the player, according to the report.

It is claimed that all three clubs “have all been making regular checks on Alvarez this season” and Ajax are ready to “battle to fend off the growing interest in him this month”.

Transfer bid accepted

Chelsea have had a bid accepted for Derby Country left-back Dylan Williams.

The 18-year-old could soon find himself linking up with the Chelsea squad, with Derby boss Wayne Rooney saying he won’t stand in the player’s way should he choose to leave.

Rooney spoke to the media on Friday ahead of Derby’s Championship clash with rivals Nottingham Forest.

“We’ve agreed a fee with a Premier League club for Dylan Williams – I couldn’t stand in the way of his opportunity,” Rooney said.

David ‘enquiry made’

Chelsea have made an enquiry for Lille’s Canadian striker Jonathan David, it has been reported.

According to Canadian outlet TSN state the Blues have made an enquiry for David, 22, who has 16 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions this season.

The transfer is far from being a done deal, however, with the report claiming that Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur have also made enquiries into the forward’s future.

It is claimed the striker is “not looking to move away from the defending French champions during this January transfer window” but could make a big-money move in the summer.

It is added that David “hasn’t narrowed his list of preferred destinations and is ‘open’ to every possibility”.
