Barcelona vs Celta | LaLiga: Jordi Alba: Barcelona hope this won’t be Messi’s last match at the Camp Nou

Jordi Alba has praised Celta Vigo for their performance in their shock 2-1 victory at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

Barcelona needed to win to remain in contention for the LaLiga Santander title, but slipped to defeat and the left-back admitted that his side found it increasingly tough against Celta.

“The first half was very good as they did not offer a lot, but they scored a great goal,” he told Movistar after full time.

“We had the match under control and, in the second half, we went a bit crazy.

“They played very well, we found it very hard and the 2-1 goal was bad luck.”

Jordi Alba added that their goal was a result of Barcelona‘s attacking pressure in the second half.

“It isn’t psychological what happens to us in second halves, as we wanted the second and there were more spaces, yet you see that the goal wasn’t arriving,” he explained.

“We had to win… and many times when you want the second you attack a lot. It happens to everyone.

“We have gone four games without a win and you have to take that into account.

“The players are to blame when things go bad. Today we tried, above all in the first half, but Celta are a great team and they made it hard for us. This is football.

“It’s true that we’ve now gone many games without winning and that is our fault.

“We will now go to Eibar to put on a great performance.”

Finally, Jordi Alba also expressed his desire for Lionel Messi to stay at the club beyond the expiration of his contract this summer, but that the decision is in the Argentine’s hands.

“We hope that this won’t be Messi‘s last match at the Camp Nou, but it is a decision that he must take,” the Catalan said.
