Arsenal’s Florida Cup withdrawal creates chaos as fans desperate to watch Gunners demand refund

DESPERATE fans have demanded refunds after Arsenal pulled out of the Florida Cup following a coronavirus outbreak in their camp.

The Gunners were due to travel to America for the second part of their pre-season plans following their double-header in Scotland – losing 2-1 to Hibernian and salvaging a 2-2 draw with Rangers.

Furious fans have demanded refunds after shelling out hundreds of pounds to watch Arsenal in the Florida Cup only for the team to pull out due to a Covid-19 outbreak

But on Tuesday night, the tournament was devastated by the news Arsenal would be pulling out following a number of positive Covid tests were revealed.

Inter Milan and Everton are still set to compete in the Florida Cup, as well as Colombian side Millonarios.

But without Arsenal, the tournament is a club short and has lost arguably its biggest selling point.

Florida Cup bosses have suggested they will go ahead with the competition, as they scramble to find a replacement club last minute – or consider giving Inter a bye into the final.

A statement from tournament organisers read: “We are disappointed that Arsenal have decided not to participate in the 2021 Florida Cup.

“We wish the members of the Arsenal travelling party who tested positive for Covid-19 a speedy recovery as we continue making final preparations for the event.

“We will be in communication with fans who purchased tickets to see Arsenal in Orlando regarding their options.”

But fans have been left fuming after not only paying a small fortune for tickets, but also for travel, accommodation and insurance.

One tweeted: “I paid $414, including $22 for insurance. I’m an Arsenal fan and couldn’t care less about Everton, Inter Milan or Millonarios. I expect a full refund.”
