Mikel Arteta is still yet to add to his Arsenal squad with the January transfer window drawing to a close, and has yet to bring in any of his desired targets.

Dusan Vlahovic is set to join Juventus despite interest from the London club, while questions have been asked regarding fellow attacking target Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Midfield remains an issue, despite the return of Thomas Partey from Africa Cup of Nations duty, with Arthur Melo and Georginio Wijnaldum among those mentioned in connection with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum looks unlikely to arrive in Jaas nuary, though, and the Paris Saint-Germain player is one of the key figures as Mirror Football brings you the latest transfer gossip around Arsenal.

Wijnaldum ‘happy in Paris’

Georginio Wijnaldum’s slow start to life at Paris Saint-Germain had prompted talk that he might leave the club in January, just a few months after joining from Liverpool.

However, despite reports of dressing room cliques and a struggle to hold down a first-team place, Wijnaldum has insisted he is happy in the French capital.

“I learn every day from my teammates and the staff. They all helped me a lot to fit in,” the 31-year-old told PSG’s Twitch channel.

“We get to know each other a little more every day. I’m learning French too, it’s important for my integration.”

Wijnaldum, who missed his team’s last league game through injury, has started just 11 times in the league since his summer move.

Former club Newcastle had been linked with a move, was well as Arsenal, but it now looks as though he won’t be returning to the Premier League this month.

Wilshere ‘interest’ as Arsenal head to Dubai

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is expected to join the Gunners squad for their mid-season tour to Dubai as he continues to wait on his next permanent move.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since leaving Bournemouth at the end of last season, and has been training with the Gunners since the autumn.

Wilshere has been lauded as the best player on the training ground by one colleague, but Arteta has played down suggestions he could hand his former teammate a permanent return.

There is interest in the midfielder from a number of clubs, though, with football.london reporting that Italian club Monza and Greek side AEK Athens are keen on the former England international.

Monza narrowly missed out on promotion to Serie A last season and currently sit in the play-off spots in Italy’s second tier, while AEK are flying high in the Greek Super League.

A host of Championship clubs have been looking at Wilshere as well, but he is yet to make a decision on his future.

American goalkeeper Matt Turner remains on Arsenal’s radar, with reports from the United States suggesting terms have been agreed.

27-year-old Turner, who made his international debut in 2021, was part of the New England Revolution side which won the MLS Supporters’ Shield last season.

The Gunners’ current number two Bernd Leno continues to be linked with a move away from north London, with Newcastle among the potential destinations for the German.

And broadcaster and former US international Taylor Twellman has reported that the two clubs have agreed terms, though “Documents remain to be filed”.

Revs boss Bruce Arena was quizzed on the move earlier on Thursday, telling local radio “The likelihood of [the deal] happening is pretty strong.”
