Arsenal are expected to have a busy summer transfer window ahead of the upcoming campaign as they look to bounce back from a disappointing season.

However, Arteta looks set to be backed by club chiefs, with the Gunners currently working to complete the signings of centre-back Ben White and midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

There are several other areas that Arsenal are looking to strengthen and there are also a number of players who could be set to leave the club.

Gunners ‘in direct contact’ over Nuno Tavares transfer

Arsenal are targeting a new left-back this summer, with the club keen to bring in some support for Kieran Tierney.

Tierney was one of few positives at the Emirates last season, but he is the only senior left-back at the club and he has struggled with injury problems.

The likes of Cedric Soares, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka have all filled in at left-back before, but it is not their natural position.

As a result, the Gunners have been linked with several potential signings and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that they have stepped up their interest in Benfica’s Nuno Tavares.

It is claimed that Arsenal are ‘in direct contact’ with the player’s representatives and that he ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League.

Arsenal ‘reject second Villa bid for Smith Rowe’

According to the Athletic, Aston Villa have had an improved £30m offer for Emile Smith Rowe rejected by Arsenal.

Villa saw an initial £25m bid turned down earlier this month and Arsenal are ‘adamant’ that Smith Rowe is not for sale.

The 20-year-old impressed for the Gunners last season, but he is about to enter the final two years of his current deal and negotiations over an extension remain ongoing.

Ramsey ‘wants to stay at Juventus’

Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey has been linked with a return to the Emirates this summer, with reports in Italy claiming that he wants to terminate his contract with Juventus.

The Welsh international has struggled with injuries since making the move to the Serie A giants but, according to Sky Sports News, he is not seeking a move away.

The report states that Ramsey ‘still hopes he has a future at Juventus’, with the reappointment of manager Massimiliano Allegri offering him encouragement.

It was Allegri who signed Ramsey back in 2019, but he departed the club before the 30-year-old could make his debut.

Ramsey is now set to return to Turin for pre-season training and he is ‘intent’ on working his way into the starting line-up.
