AC Milan

The background on Faivre’s failed Milan move and what the future may hold

In the summer, before signing Junior Messias from Crotone, AC Milan made a serious attempt of signing Romain Faivre from Brest. However, they were unsuccessful and the winger ended up staying in France.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan were looking for an attacking midfielder/winger and they were linked with many. From Jesus Corona and Messias to Romain Faivre, who ended up at the top of the wish list.

A meeting took place at Casa Milan between the Rossoneri and Faivre’s agent, which resulted in the ‘yes’ of the player. Brest remained the roadblock, though, as the first offer of €10m was returned to the sender.

Then, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara upped the offer to €12m, but still without any success. And with time running out, they made the ‘take it or leave it’ offer of €12m plus another €3m in bonuses. Brest, though, rejected this as well.

In January, another attempt shouldn’t be ruled out despite the signing of Messias, but it’s not certain that this will happen. Faivre wouldn’t hesitate if he gets the call, seeing as he rejected a few offers from Germany in the summer.
