SM: Milan breathe a sigh of relief as a long absence for Tonali is ruled out

Some good news has arrived for head coach Stefano Pioli and AC Milan as Sandro Tonali will not face a long spell on the sidelines.

Pioli and the Milan staff were waiting with anxiety after Sandro Tonali hobbled off during the 6-1 friendly win over Vicenza. There was a moment of worry early in the second half as Tonali pulled up and then limped off straight down the tunnel with what was clearly a muscle problem.

After leaving the field prematurely during the friendly against Vicenza, Tonali underwent checks on the injury this morning to understand the extent of the issue and how long he might face out.

According to the information we have received via our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, the scans ruled out musculotendinous injuries and Tonali will be evaluated from day to day. Given that the first game of the season is on Saturday it is still unlikely he is back for that, but it cannot be excluded either.
