AC Milan

Renewal of three young stars considered an urgent priority by Maldini and Massara

AC Milan will enjoy their Scudetto celebrations for a little longer but they must also begin planning for the future, starting with protecting key assets.

Milan will now concentrate on returning to competing in Europe after finishing bottom of their Champions League group, and the Rossoneri – thanks to winning the title – will be back in the first pot for the draw and therefore should get a simpler group than in the past.

However, our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report that the Milan management will have to work on the renewal of several players who have significantly contributed to the Rossoneri’s resurgence over the last two and a half years.

That starts with winger Rafael Leao who is under contract until 2024 but is liked by Real Madrid. Then there is midfielder Sandro Tonali who is in line for a pay rise after taking a pay cut to push through his permanent move last summer, while Pierre Kalulu should be rewarded.

These are three operations considered urgent and essential by Maldini and Massara who will focus on bringing new signings too in order to be able to improve a squad that doesn’t yet have the quality depth to go deep into Champions League.
