MN: Bennacer determined to recover from difficult season

Ismael Bennacer is looking to put the injury problems of the 2020-21 season behind him and contribute more consistently next season.

MilanNews writes how Bennacer has proved to be a fundamental player for Milan in Stefano Pioli’s 4-2-3-1, connecting the defence with the forwards and supporting Franck Kessie in the breaking up attacks from the opponents. Sandro Tonali and Rade Krunic had to step in last season when he was injured, but they do not guarantee the same quality.

With Bennacer on the pitch, Milan lost only two games last season in the league (Spezia and Lazio away) averaging 2.23 points per game in 21 games. Without the former Empoli man, Milan lost 5 out of 17 games, with an average of 1.80ppg. The Algerian is crucial to Pioli’s game and mechanisms, and with a Champions League return to come he will be even more vital.

Bennacer will hopefully arrive at the training camp on July 8 in good shape, regenerated from the summer break and ready for another campaign, this time able to contribute more consistently.
