The German will see the squad through until, at least, the end of the current campaign.

Much has been made of Rangnick’s style and the possible changes that could follow – on and off the pitch.

The current coaching staff, who worked under the previous regime, were regularly criticised for their lack of experience but there is no indication they will be changed.

Rangnick also remained coy on possible ins and outs when it comes to the January transfer window.

He labelled midseason recruitment as “unsustainable” and dismissed suggestions he was due a bonus for recruiting big names like Erling Haaland.

These are the latest rumours coming out of Old Trafford

New coach inbound

Chris Armas is set to be the first addition to Ralf Rangnick’s staff with United due to announce it in the coming days.

The 49-year-old was given his work permit on Monday morning ahead of his Old Trafford arrival.

Rangnick hinted that a few new faces could arrive to bolster the backroom team, despite insisting he was happy to work with the current crop.

Armas previously coached Toronto FC in the MLS but was sacked in July.

The American, who coached New York Red Bulls for six years, is well known to Rangnick, who worked as sporting director and coach for the Red Bull group between 2012-19.

Dembele’s future

Ousmane Dembele has been continually linked with a Barcelona exit as the Catalans continue to battle financial problems.

The Frenchman was signed back in 2017 with the money that came from Neymar’s record-breaking sale.

However injuries have hampered his career at the Nou Camp and an exit has been touted, with United among those keen.

Barcelona though are looking to extend his current deal under new boss Xavi, with a major pay bump on the rise.

Dalot’s ambition

Diogo Dalot has indicated he sees his future at Old Trafford having been afforded a start in Rangnick’s first game.

The right-back struggled for opportunities under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was sent out on loan to AC Milan last term.

Roma, led by Jose Mourinho, the man who signed Dalot at United, are rumoured to be keen on a January move.

But the Portuguese star has spoken about his role going forward in Manchester.

“It’s what I’m here for. It’s not easy when you’re outside [the starting XI] and you don’t play as much, but it’s our job to keep ready and I think I was doing a fantastic job outside the pitch being ready,” he told Manchester United’s official website.

“When the opportunity comes, I now feel I need to keep going and give everything when I’m on the pitch too.”
