A number of AC Milan’s Femminile side were able to represent their country over the recent international break, and we have a round up of how they got on.
Valentina Giacinti scored a brace with Italy during their Women’s World Cup qualifier against Croatia. The team won the match 5-0, despite a power outage that halted play for several minutes. She was also named the player of the match.
Laura Giuliani and Valentina Bergamaschi also helped Italy secure the vital win. Though Giuliani’s performance was hampered by her being expelled at the 56th minute after she mistakenly collected the ball outside of the box.
Gudny Arnadottir played well in Iceland’s match against the Netherlands. She played the full 96 minutes as a right-back for Stelpurnar okkar.
The defender managed to win fifty percent of her duels against formidable opposition. Here she is taking on Lieke Martens, a Ballon d’Or nominee and treble-winner with Barcelona, and winning the ball back.
Refiloe Jane and South Africa won the first-ever Aisha Buhari Cup in Nigeria. Jane played the full 90+ minutes as Banyana Banyana won the first edition of the trophy on Tuesday.

Christy Grimshaw scored in Scotland’s 7-1 win over the Faroe Islands on the same day.
Though Mária Korenčiová’s Slovakia managed to lose their first two qualifiers against Sweden and Finland, Maya still managed to fare well during the qualifiers through her goal-keeping performances.
The Milan shot-stopper faced a potent, Swedish attack that featured the likes of Kosovare Asllani, Sofia Jakobsson, Fridolina Rolfö, Lina Hurtig, and stood tall against them. The fact that the Rossonere have a player this talented on their squad is quite reassuring.
AC Milan will play Sassuolo this Saturday. The Rossonere will look to continue their unbeaten streak in the league and make it four by four. Kickoff time will be at 14:30 CET.
