€50m-rated World Cup star seen as ideal potential Leao replacement

AC Milan could turn to Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven if they are forced to sell Rafael Leao in the next two transfer windows, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) spoke about the upcoming transfer decisions that Serie A teams are facing and the talents who are showing off at the World Cup in Qatar. They claim that for Milan, the perfect name for the attack would be Gakpo from the Netherlands, who has already been linked with a move.

The headline for the section reads: ‘Gakpo and Milan. The right attacking midfielder if Leao were to leave’. His was the Netherlands’ first goal at the World Cup as he scored with a header which unlocked the complicated game against Senegal.

As mentioned, he plays at PSV Eindhoven where he has 9 goals and 12 assists in the league plus 3 goals and 2 assists in the Europa League, and La Gazzetta believe he would be ideal if Leao were to leave.

His asking price is already touching €50m given he has a contract that expires in 2026, while in the Premier League there are teams that have an eye on him and have since the summer.
