CM: Milan growing in optimism regarding Chelsea midfielder

There is still one game left before the season draws to a close, but the AC Milan management are not messing about and they are aiming to secure another signing.

As Calciomercato.com report, Daichi Kamada and Marco Sportiello are expected to join on free transfers when they leave Eintracht Frankfurt and Atalanta respectively, and now attentions have turned to Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

His contract with Chelsea expires in June 2024 and the talks between the parties are moving forward at great pace, because will of everyone involved is to close the operation.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are moving ahead quickly because they believe that Loftus-Cheek would add height and physicality to a midfield that currently lacks in those areas, while Ismael Bennacer’s injury means he will be out for six months and so cover is needed anyway.

Chelsea meanwhile need to sell players and lower the wage bill after their huge spending which resulted in a disappointing season. Their initial asking price of €25m has already dropped to €20m and Milan feel quite confident of being able to further reduce that figure.

For his part, Loftus-Cheek has given the green light to the idea of a new adventure in Italy and in Serie A. His entourage have had several discussions with Maldini and Massara to discuss the possible terms of his contract.

An agreement on personal terms has not yet been defined in detail but it is seen as an ‘easily achievable goal’, so after Kamada it is now seemingly a downhill path for Loftus-Cheek as Milan’s summer transfer market is off to a very strong start.
