Cardinale’s plan to monetise Milan

Gerry Cardinale is keen on increasing AC Milan’s revenue streams and monetising the brand to the fullest extent. Work is underway on several fronts and there are three key areas for his masterplan.

Cardinale officially took over the club back in September and while it hasn’t been a perfect start to his ownership on the pitch, progress has been made off it. In fact, earlier this morning, he had a meeting with the Milan mayor over the stadium (read here).

As was confirmed by Chief Revenue Officer Casper Stylsvig during an event yesterday, as cited by SempreMilan.it, there are three key areas for the big plan. The first is the entertainment sector. Milan recently teamed up with the video game ‘Rocket League’ and we have also seen partnerships with a couple of movies recently.

The second area is fashion. The fourth kit, which was released recently, has sold out and the majority of the buyers came from abroad (60%, of which 20% in the USA). The partnership with the Rolling Stones is another example, with Milan making the most of the city’s reputation as the home of fashion.

Finally, Cardinale wants a new stadium for the club. He has accelerated the pursuit in recent weeks, as evidenced by the many meetings in Milano, and this is the most important part of the masterplan.
