Man Utd transfer round-up: De Gea’s future ‘uncertain’, Dortmund ‘want £86m for Sancho’

After finishing second in the Premier League and coming up short in the Europa League final last season, Manchester United are keen to kick on this summer.

United are yet to lift silverware under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and if that is to change, it seems clear that they are in need of reinforcements.

Edinson Cavani has extended his stay at Old Trafford for a further year, but United are said to be in the market for attacking recruits.

They are also keen to strengthen at the back, with a new centre-back also said to be on Solskjaer’s radar.

De Gea’s future ‘uncertain’

David de Gea’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, according to a report from ESPN.

De Gea began the season as United’s first-choice goalkeeper but, after missing several games to return to Spain for the birth of his first child, Dean Henderson appeared to overtake him in the pecking order.

As a result, Henderson started ahead of De Gea for seven of United’s last nine Premier League matches.

ESPN claim that Solskjaer has not told De Gea of his plans for next season yet, and that the goalkeeper would be willing to leave the club if Solskjaer told him that Henderson will be his first-choice.

Dortmund ‘want £86m for Sancho’

According to Sky Sports News, United are currently £11m short of Borussia Dortmund’s asking price for Jadon Sancho.

United have been heavily linked with the England international and they are believed to have had a bid rejected by the Bundesliga side.

Sky are reporting that United offered a deal worth around £75m including add-ons, but Dortmund want £86m including add-ons.

Atletico ‘willing to sell’ Saul

United hold a long-standing interest in Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez and, according to Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga side are willing to sell the midfielder.

The report states that United are among the sides interested in Saul and that the player would only be willing to leave if he is offered a ‘very interesting project’.

Atletico are said to be resigned to the fact that they will need to sell players this summer in order to finance new signings and Saul could be one of the names to leave.

His current deal runs until 2026 and contains a €150m (£128m) release clause.

However, Atletico are thought to be willing to lower their asking price to around €80m (£68m).

The report names Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Juventus as clubs who could rival United for his signature, but it is Juventus and the Red Devils who ‘have the most options’ to sign Saul this summer.
