FC Bayern are fan champions! In the 17th Bundesliga Barometer, a fan survey published by Sport Bild and sponsored by TÜV Rheinland, the German record champions took top spot in the rankings for the ninth time with an overall score of 1.96. In total, nearly 5,300 supporters from all Bundesliga clubs were asked about service quality and satisfaction with their own club across 21 different criteria. The outstanding result: nowhere in the league are fans so happy with their club as at FCB, with the Bavarians becoming the first club to receive five ‘ones’ from their fans.
“We at Bayern Munich are proud to be in first place in the Bundesliga Barometer again,” said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “Winning a title once is a big challenge, but to defend it in the following year is an even bigger one. That makes us all the more pleased to have achieved it. This award is for all the staff who constantly do their best for Bayern with heart and passion.”
“The Bundesliga overall is at a very high level both on and off the pitch, which is why the clubs aren’t far apart in the overall ranking,” commented Prof. Dr. Alfons Madeja, initiator of the Bundesliga Barometer, who handed over the prize to Rummenigge. “However, the way that FC Bayern Munich reaches this level year after year is outstanding. That doesn’t just apply to the sporting department. The German record champions’ conduct in their interaction with their own fans also stands out. During the coronavirus pandemic, the interaction possibilities with fans have come into even sharper focus for the clubs. Contact to supports and others around plays a big role, so the information basis that the Bundesliga Barometer provides is very important.”
Among the criteria graded were ‘management’ (score 1.52), ‘image’ (1.36), ‘club concept’ (1.42) and ‘the best fans in the world’ (1.95).
