Real Madrid step up negotiations and trusts Bellingham’s wish

Real Madrid are reasonably optimistic about the chances they have to sign their primary target, Jude Bellingham, in the summer. They are aware that they can’t compete with the financial muscle of the Premier League clubs, but they are confident that the Borussia Dortmund midfielder will have the last word when it comes to deciding his future.

Los Blancos believe that when the time comes Bellingham will be more attracted by a move to Real Madrid than a possible preference of his father, Mark, and other members of the family which lies with a return to England.

They hope that Bellingham will not be seduced by the figures that the English clubs are willing to spend in order to lure him back to his native country. Bellingham has stressed that he will make a decision on his future in the next two or three weeks.

A price tag of 115m euros plus variables

Borussia Dortmund have already set a price tag of between 110 and 115m euros plus bonuses. The transfer would cost a total 150m euros. This is a similar figure to the one Dortmund demanded from Barcelona in 2017 for Ousmane Dembele, as the Blaugrana paid 105m euros and 40m in variables, which ended up being 30m.

Man City and Liverpool offer more

The two Premier League clubs are negotiating Bellingham‘s signing with Dortmund. Their offers are higher than that of Los Blancos, who are studying the formula to improve their bid by including bonuses based on potentially fulfilled objectives.

Manchester City have an advantage over Liverpool, who were the first club to show their interest in the England international but are struggling due to ownership uncertainty. Jurgen Klopp believes that Bellingham’s signing will be fundamental in his bid to rebuild the team, while Man City are confident of convincing the player with arguments such as their attractive footballing model, their financial potential, Pep Guardiola‘s presence and the possibility to rejoin forces with Erling Haaland.

Bellingham prefers Real Madrid

Los Blancos trust that Dortmund will not raise their demands. If so, they believe they have a certain advantage because they count on being the priority option for the player.

This is what Bellingham‘s entourage told the club’s chief of scouting Juni Calafat in recent talks. Real Madrid will offer him a salary of 10m euros per season and the deal will include commissions for both his agent and his father.

Real Madrid believe that Bellingham is the ideal player to help their transition into a new era, but they are not willing to spent the figures they offered in their bid to sign Kylian Mbappe.

The cases of Camavinga and Tchouameni

Los Blancos are willing to meet Dortmund‘s demands, but the German club have already stressed that the player will have the last word.

If he prioritises his personal preference and the sporting project, he will probably end up playing at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu next season, as Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni did. Should he go for the big money, he will return to his native country to play in the Premier League.
