Kane has been linked with a sensational £100million-plus transfer to Manchester Citythis summer but time is running out and Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to make a bid.

The England captain clearly wants to push through a move away from White Hart Lane and has reportedly skipped Spurs’ pre-season training session this Monday.

Kane’s decision has generated a mixture of responses on social media, with some angry with the striker’s perceived unprofessionalism, and others sympathetic to his plight.

Rio Ferdinand tweeted: “I’m not saying that Harry Kane and his tactics to leave are wrong (if we are to believe what’s being said). Harry wants trophies and he ain’t getting any younger.”

Carragher responded: “I disagree, it is wrong not to turn up for training.

“We all know he wants to go and can totally understand why. But Harry should not ruin his name or relationship with the supporters who idolise him just to get the move. Spurs will always be HIS club.”

Kane announced before the Euros that he is looking to leave Spurs this summer and go in search of silverware.

“I think it’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club. Yeah, like you say, I want to be playing in the biggest games. The biggest moments.

“Like, this season I’m there watching the Champions League watching the English teams in there doing amazing. They are the games that I want to be involved in.

“I want to be in them games. So for sure, it’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman. I hope that we can have that conversation.

“I’m sure that he’ll want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me and my career this moment in time.”
