ML: Milan make historically good start to a Serie A season

With last night’s win against Hellas Verona, Milan secured a historically good start to a league season through the first eight rounds.

Milan completed a fantastic turnaround in the second half having found themselves two goals down, with Giroud’s header, Kessie’s penalty and an own goal from Gunter earning all three points at San Siro.

As MilanLive writes, the Rossoneri have now amassed 22 points in the first eight games of the season, which comes from seven wins and one draw. That puts them top of the table for the time being but Napoli have the chance to leapfrog Milan again if they beat Torino this afternoon.

Milan have never amassed all these points after eight games in a season in the three-point era, so from 1994-95 season to today. The best tally after matchday eight dates back to a year ago when the Rossoneri were on 20 points (6 wins and 2 draws), which was the same amount as Ancelotti’s side got in the 2003-04 season.
