Leao swap rejected but salary of James Rodriguez is ‘within reach’ for Milan

Milan are looking for a playmaker and several players have been linked with the club over the last few weeks. James Rodriguez is one of them and he dropped a transfer hint last night.

On his Twitch channel, which you can read more about here, the Colombian was asked about the future and gave the following response: “I have already played in all leagues. Just Italy is missing, Serie A would be a good option”.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Rodriguez isn’t part of Rafa Benitez’s plans at Everton and a move is thus on the cards. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been working on the matter and Milan have been offered the player.

A swap deal involving Rafael Leao, also a client of Mendes, was put on the table but the Rossoneri weren’t keen on this, nor was the Portuguese youngster. In spite of this, Rodriguez is an option for the Rossoneri.

Everton are willing to sell the No.19 for a small amount (less than €10m) and the salary, per the report, is around €6m per year. It would be a significant investment for Milan but it’s certainly within their reach.
