The completion of Raphael Varane’s transfer from Real Madrid for £45million is edging closer as the defender is due to arrive in the UK.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also secured the signing of goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who returned to the club last month on a free transfer from Burnley.

Meanwhile, a number of players have been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, as they look to further their careers elsewhere.

Solskjaer knows he must continue to strengthen his squad if United are to keep pace with their fellow Premier League rivals.

With that in mind, Mirror Football brings you the latest transfer activity from Old Trafford.

The Frenchman is reportedly finally set to fly to England to complete his £45million move to Manchester United from Real Madrid.

The Red Devils announced last week that they had agreed terms with Spanish giants Real Madrid, but the Frenchman’s transfer hit a sudden roadblock after Varane had trouble obtaining a visa.

But now multiple outlets including Manchester Evening News have reported that the French defender will arrive in the UK imminently – where he must quarantine for 10 days.

Varane will then be able to complete his medical and subsequently finalise the transfer.

The 28-year-old recently said farewell to his Real Madrid team mates in a Instagram post.

The post read: “After 10 amazing and wonderful years at Real Madrid, a club I will always carry in my heart, the day has come to say goodbye.”

Williams set for loan move

Meanwhile, one player who could be leaving the club is left-back Brandon Williams.

According to The Athletic, Williams is set for a loan move in order to gain experience, with Norwich City the favourites to sign the youngster.

The Canaries have opened talks with Williams, who remains United’s third choice left-back after Luke Shaw and Alex Telles.

The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut for United in 2019 after coming on as a substitute against Liverpool.

Williams made just four appearances in the league last season, compared to the 17 he made in the 2019-20 campaign.

Milan won’t pay excessive fee for Dalot

AC Milan have been put off signing Diogo Dalot on a permanent basis following United’s valuation of the player, according to a report in Italy.

Milan Live say United have valued the Portuguese defender at €18-20million, which they are not prepared to pay.

Diogo Dalot spent last season on loan at AC Milan and has been linked with a permanent move

Dalot spent the entirety of the previous campaign on loan at Milan, where he made 21 Serie A appearances, scoring one goal.

The right-back joined the Red Devils in 2018 from Portuguese giants Porto in a move worth £19million, but Dalot has failed to cement a place in the first team.

Dalot made his Portugal debut at Euro 2020 after being called up as a replacement for Joao Cancelo, who withdrew from the tournament after testing positive for COVID-19.
