The Manchester United hierarchy are reportedly confident that dressing room leaks will not be an issue Erik ten Hag has to contend with next season.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick has been forced to put up with plenty of stories managing to make their way into the press since he was appointed just before Christmas. It was a similar situation towards the end of his predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign, but those at the top of the club are content it will not happen moving forward.

After Solskjaer’s time at the club was cut short following a disastrous run of results that left United well out of the race for the title, Rangnick was brought in with the aim of trying to steady the ship but things have hardly played out that way.

There wasn’t much of a ‘new manager bounce’ and even if results did slightly improve initially, the standard of the Red Devils performances still left plenty to be desired. That has not been helped by the fact that many details intended to be kept private have found their way into public domain.

There have been accusations aimed at different players from fans on social media trying to determine who is behind the leaks. The National report that it will not be a concern beyond this summer, which is a huge positive for incoming boss Ten Hag.

An internal investigation was launched by the club and it would seem as if they have found the culprit. It comes as a boost for the Red Devils at a time when they desperately needed one, with a disastrous season just one game away from concluding and while United know the best they can achieve is Europa League qualification – they could still slip into the Europa Conference League places.

Should West Ham secure a win away from home at Brighton and United slip up on the road against Crystal Palace – the Hammers would leapfrog the Red Devils into sixth-spot and David Moyes would get one over on his former side in the process.

There has been some newfound optimism instilled around United’s Carrington training base recently after Ten Hag confirmed he’d leave Ajax and head straight to Manchester before he even thinks about taking a brief summer break.

Given United missed out on Champions League football for the fourth time in nine seasons, there is unlikely to be a flurry of big-money new additions coming through the door, but Ten Hag is expected to strengthen in certain areas as plenty of current first-team players look set to depart.
