Jack Grealish hands Aston Villa major boost and hopes for England call from Gareth Southgate

Jack Grealish has returned to training at Aston Villa and is hoping to keep his England place.

The Villa captain has missed Dean Smith’s side’s last five matches with a leg injury.

Villa have won just once without their talisman, 25, who has six goals and 10 assists in the Premier League this term.

But the star is now in line to return on Sunday when Tottenham visit Villa Park in a 7.30pm kick off.

Grealish returned to full training at Villa’s Bodymoor HQ this week after a month out.

The star now hopes his return is in time to satisfy England boss Gareth Southgate ahead of this month’s World Cup qualifiers.

Southgate names his squad on Thursday for the qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland at the end of the month.

Grealish has five caps after bursting into the team by making his debut last September.

The creative ace has since been hailed as a potential mainstay of England’s side at the Euros this summer and has spoken of his determination to play.

“It would mean everything,” he said recently.

“I set my sights on it at the start of the season and it is certainly something I have had my eye on since I was a little kid.”

Grealish also claims England could win the tournament.

“Yeah defo,” he added when pressed. “We have so much talent this year, especially the attackers.

“You look at Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling.

“The four of them could get into any team in the world and any national team.”

England play San Marino next Thursday at Wembley before facing Albania on Sunday in Tirana and then Poland on Wednesday March 31 back in London.
