Manchester United’s players are taking advantage of the Premier League winter break to rest up – while some are taking part in warm weather training camps.

Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot are all training at Dubai’s Nad Al Sheba training complex, where former boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer took United for a winter camp in 2019.

Although interim boss Ralf Rangnick has ostensibly given his players a week off, with United’s squad not due back for training in Manchester until Saturday, Rashford, Lingard and Dalot are determined to keep in peak shape during the break.

United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has jetted off to a secret sunshine location with his personal fitness and nutritionist, Javier Santamaria, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner posting pictures of the pair on his official Instagram account, as well as a shot of the Portuguese star sipping a drink on a sun lounger.

Skipper Harry Maguire is also in Dubai, where he played a round of golf – along with Everton and England keeper Jordan Pickford – with former Open champion Shane Lowry, at the Els Club, with the Irishman in action at the Dubai Desert Classic, at the Emirates Club, which starts on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Scott McTominay also posted from the gold course, but rather than the desert he headed to chilly Scotland.

United’s Brazilian duo, Alex Telles and Fred, have joined up with Brazil, while Edinson Cavani is in the Uruguay squad, alongside Facundo Pellistri who is currently out on loan, while Eric Bailly, is on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Ivory Coast.

But most of United’s players are enjoying a much-needed break, having played 14 games in nine weeks since the last international break, back in November.

Rangnick himself is using the break to catch up with his family and said: “I think it’s important as it’s the only moment where players and also staff members can recover a little bit and see their family.

“I haven’t been able to see my family over Christmas, so at least it’s a small opportunity to see each other again.

“The same can be true of the players and then we still have a normal week of training in order to get ready and prepared for the game against Middlesbrough.”

United are next in action at Old Trafford, against Chris Wilder’s side, in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday February 4 at 8pm.
