Gary Neville ‘to cover Avanti West Coast instead of Cristiano Ronaldo on MNF’ as he labels train company a ‘shambles’

A FUMING Gary Neville threatened a break from normal programming to give a train company the Monday Night Football treatment.

The MNF pundit was left seething by Avanti West Coast after the company forgot to pack any cutlery on their Monday morning service.

Neville was clearly left hungry and unable to eat his brekkie as he labelled the service an “absolute shambles” on Twitter.

Rather than run the rule over the great Cristiano Ronaldo and his weekend return to Manchester United, Neville joked he would have to put Avanti in the spotlight on the Sky Sports show.

Neville tweeted: “Excelling themselves again @AvantiWestCoast. ‘We haven’t loaded any cutlery packs this morning.’

“Forget assessing Ronaldo on MNF tonight I’m covering this lot. Absolute shambles of a company.”

The former United defender at least appeared to recognise he wasn’t starting the week in the cheeriest of moods, following up with: “Morning everyone…”

Avanti West Coast carries passengers on the West Coast Main Line and connects London with Manchester.

Neville’s MNF colleague Jamie Carragher was quick to wind up his mate, tweeting a picture of himself holding a metal fork on his own Monday morning train ride.

And when Twitter users replied to suggest there may be bigger problems in the world than a lack of cutlery on Neville’s train, the pundit fired back.

He tweeted: “No I won’t eat a sandwich and I won’t stop complaining about this company.

“They are running this line purely for profit and don’t give a damn about the people using it! They need kicking out of this contract.”

Everton take on Burnley on Monday Night Football while there are a host of talking points from the weekend’s Premier League action, including Ronaldo’s triumphant return to Old Trafford.

Fans will have to tune in to see whether Neville makes good on his threats to break down Avanti’s business practices rather than the Portuguese’s brace of United goals.
