CRISTIAN ROMERO is ‘excited’ as he closes in on a £47million move to Tottenham Hotspur
The centre-back, 23, is said to be on his way to London to complete a deal after spending three years in Italy with Atalanta.
Spurs have had a £47million bid accepted for the defender, who now has to agree personal terms and pass a medical.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Romero has flown to London to complete his move to Spurs.
And speaking about the transfer, Romero said: “I only wanted Spurs because I really like this project. Paratici and the whole club wanted me and I’ll give my best.
“[The] Premier League is the best way to continue my career.”
Romero will become Spurs’ third signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and winger Bryan Gil.
He will also be greeted by a familiar face in Giovani Lo Celso, with the duo having won the Copa America together this summer.
And the Argentine arrives with significant pedigree, having won Serie A’s ‘best defender’ gong at their MVP awards.
Meanwhile, another Serie A defender, Bologna ace Takehiro Tomiyasu, is also expected to move to North London this summer.
Tottenham have also drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements for Harry Kane, which includes Lautaro Martinez and Tammy Abraham.
Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo aims to resolve the Kane situation soon but is yet to speak to his star striker.
