The Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail, has revealed he wants to buy Valencia but that issues must be solved first.
Last Sunday, the 39-year-old heir to the sultanate sat down with Los Che owner Peter Lim, but no agreement was found.
It was thought they had agreed to talk again sometime in the future, but on Thursday the crown prince responded to a fan on Instagram who asked about his intentions.
“Yes there was a discussion with the owner for me to have a share in the club,” the Prince of Johor wrote.
“But it is on hold because of some complication and issues needed to be settled.”
And there are indeed a number of problems in the way, most notably Lim‘s current inability to sell more than 51 percent of his shares due to restrictions on his debt.
What seems clear is that the Prince of Johor seems to be on good terms with Lim.
“Lim saved Valencia from bankruptcy,” he said.
“He’s definitely better than me.”
As a club, Valencia celebrate their 102nd anniversary on Thursday, March 18.
