Whatever transpires, Real Madrid will look back on 2022 as a year of success. However, they are compelled to pursue more this campaign as that’s the way the club is.
As the new season begins, Carlo Ancelotti sent five messages to various parties during UEFA Super Cup week.
Ancelotti’s message of gratitude
Ancelotti made it obvious throughout pre-season that the UEFA Super Cup marked the conclusion of the previous season rather than the start of this new one. For a management expert like the coach, this was a method to express gratitude to last year’s team.
He even stated during the tour that the players who started in the Champions League Final in Saint-Denis would be given precedence in Helsinki.
The outcome was another victory, going from a 1-0 victory over Liverpool to a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
“It’s the healthiest dressing room I’ve ever had,” he said of these players.
Ancelotti’s message about the midfield
In keeping with this tradition, Real Madrid began play on Wednesday with the CMK – Casemiro–Modric–Kroos – midfield, and Fede Valverde as a winger.
However, in the second half, the squad’s depth, with choices and solutions for practically any situation, was on display.
Eduardo Camavinga came on in the 76th minute, while Dani Ceballos and Aurelien Tchouameni were introduced in the 85th minute.
The goal is to utilise the best combination for each circumstance as the months pass, maximising the synergies between seasoned professionals and newcomers in the engine room.
Ancelotti’s message about the importance of Rudiger
Antonio Rudiger made his official debut is the first match, like the other high-profile signing Tchouameni.
He did so as a right-back when Ancelotti decided to preserve the Militao–Alaba partnership.
The German had already made his left-back debut in the Las Vegas Clasico before switching to the centre of defence for the remaining games. The 29-year-old’s versatility will come in handy.
Ancelotti’s message about departures
Ceballos was the most well-known of the players who was linked with a move away, yet his response has been one of utmost commitment, impressing the coaching staff and teammates in pre-season.
The addition of Tchouameni to the midfield will probably lead to a reduction in his playing time, but he has been lauded for the way he has handled it, by fighting and displaying his many skills, and the coach brought him on on Wednesday.
Marco Asensio, whose deal expires in 2023, remained on the bench. That was similar to Eden Hazard, who also feels uneasy in his new position as Benzema‘s backup as a false No.9, in a job that does not fit him.
Meanwhile, Alvaro Odriozola has started to prepare to say goodbye because he did not even make the final squad for the UEFA Super Cup.
Ancelotti’s message about the World Cup
Ancelotti used all of his allowed substitutions in Helsinki, which was unusual for him. Based on his remarks, it wasn’t a coincidence.
The World Cup starting on November 20 will demand an adaptation during the middle of the season.
“This year we are going to rotate more,” he said.
