Real Madrid signs Fran Garcia to bring him back for next season

Raul Martin Presa, president of Rayo Vallecano, has confirmed that the team’s left-back Fran Garcia will return to Real Madrid.

Garcia, who is a product of Real Madrid‘s esteemed La Fabricia youth academy, was loaned out to Rayo ahead of the 2020-21 season.

His performances earned him a four-year contract with the club after he had helped them to achieve promotion from the Spanish second tier.

However, on the program ‘El Partidazo de COPE’, Presa noted that Garcia will return to Real Madrid at the end of the current campaign.

Fran Garcia will go to Real Madrid at the end of this season,” Presa stated. “We have reached an agreement”.

Bayer Leverkusen was willing to pay 10 million for Garcia

The Rayo president also confirmed that Real Madrid blocked Xabi Alonso‘s Bayer Leverkusen from buying the player for 10 million euros.

Real Madrid has prevented Fran Garcia from going to Bayer Leverkusen, obviously because of their interest, as they consider him to be a player that has something to offer them,” Presa stated.

The president also thanked Real Madrid for behaving correctly and not exercising their right to buy the player immediately when their current starting left-back Ferland Mendy got injured.

“For them, it would have been the best thing on a sporting level,” Presa continued. “Real Madrid is a club that acts sportingly and we have to thank them.”
